Understanding Storage Devices

Storage devices are essential hardware components used to save and retrieve digital data. They can be categorized into two main types:

1. Primary Storage: This includes RAM (Random Access Memory), which is fast but temporary, used for quick data access while a device is running.
2. Secondary Storage: This type provides long-term data retention and includes:
   • Hard Drives (HDDs): Traditional storage using spinning disks; they offer large capacities at lower costs.
   • Solid-State Drives (SSDs): Faster and more reliable than HDDs, SSDs have no moving parts, making them quicker for data access.
   • USB Flash Drives: Portable storage that’s convenient for transferring files.
